The Jazz Club of Sarasota
The Jazz Club of Sarasota
is acjknowledged to be the most active jazz club in the U.S., with over 80 concerts and lectures every year. Founded in 1980 by
the late Hal Davis, the former publicist for Benny Goodman, the club has approximately
750 members and is growing in membership.
The Jazz club sponsors, with the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, the
Sarasota Jazz Festival, one of the major US jazz festivals.
Through a grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice, the
Jazz Club of Sarasota also sponsors the Venice Jazz Festival each fall. The event features
an outdoor festival with two days of musical entertainment. Jazz Club also sponsors the
Gulf Coast High School Jazz Festival in Sarasota.
